The representation and the complexity of this concept are set out in order to understand that, as Gombrich once said, «What one sees is not represented, but rather one sees what is represented». The feminine identity transmitted by the media responds first to the figure of the paradox and later to the recreation of a new subject, as feminism intends. Yet more complex is that identities of women and the media present different proposals and profiles in the various fields: magazines, television, radio, press, Internet. Presenting them and highlighting their differences will help to understand this complex relationship between the media and feminism.
