Abstract

Present-day ethics cannot be thought without a close link to bioethics. We are facing a situation characterized by radical changes, wherein techno-scientific advance cannot be stopped. Prohibitions can only be delaying attempts. Therefore, there is only a reasonable and ethically valid answer, namely to assume and master the historic change process, endowing it with ethical meaning, making it humane and rational. Bioethics calls for an elucidation of its ontological presuppositions. Current situation demands an ethics thanks towhich the changing process will keep a living face of humanitas.
