This paper discusses transsexualism and intersexuality as two phenomena that challenge dimorphic conceptions of body anatomy and binary conceptions of sex and gender. In this defiance of the medical and social norm, transsexual and intersexual subjects build a place of resistance, suggesting, through self-designation, the concept of a new transgender subject. And finally, I will point out some ethical issues related to the medical treatments of sex assignment of intersexuals and sex reassignment of transsexuals, concerning the autonomy and dignity of these transgender subjects.
