The analysis of Aristotle on basic categories that define the political thing, that constitute the polis, should have the democracy as logic conclusion. However that was not the Aristotle’s conclusion. He directed hard critics against democracy, and he proposed the politeia as a realist and fair constitution. This issue has generated several and contradictory interpretations. This paper examines the real position of Aristotle on the democracy and his alternative regime.
