Resumen


El aumento del nivel del mar y los cambios en los patrones meteorológicos dan cuenta de que el cambio climático tiene una dimensión global, sin embargo, los pueblos indígenas son los más vulnerables a sus efectos. Al mismo tiempo, desde la práctica de sus cosmovisiones, los pueblos indígenas han aportado respuestas eficaces para paliar los peligros del cambio climático. No es de extrañar, entonces, que exista un creciente interés por conocer estar “soluciones indígenas”. En este contexto, este artículo explora la relación entre la cosmovisión indígena maorí y los derechos de la naturaleza, destacando cómo estos conceptos convergen para abordar desafíos ambientales en Aotearoa (Nueva Zelanda). Las tradiciones y prácticas maoríes ofrecen soluciones fundamentadas en una ética relacional que reconoce la interdependencia entre humanos y naturaleza. El texto analiza casos emblemáticos, como la personalidad jurídica otorgada a ríos y territorios naturales, mostrando cómo estas iniciativas reflejan valores maoríes como el kaitiakitanga (guardianía) y el whakapapa (conexión ancestral). Finalmente, el estudio de iniciativas como la personalidad jurídica ejemplifica las diferencias y similitudes entre la cosmovisión indígena y los derechos a la naturaleza y da cuenta de las ventajas y retos de integrar perspectivas indígenas en los marcos legislativos y políticos contemporáneos.
