This work aims to analyze the role of rationality within the concept of autonomy. To this end, we will adopt the conception of personal autonomy as a capacity to make our own decisions and to act in accordance with our preferences. Depending on the category of preferences our actions respond to, we could distinguish different levels of rationality in each of these acts. Likewise, according to the level of rationality we are found in, we could discern different degrees of autonomy within the action.
