Resumen


La discusión acerca de si la ciencia está libre de valores (no epistémicos) se ha avivado en los últimos años, en los que vienen publicándose un número creciente de trabajos. La discusión se ha planteado en diferentes contextos propios de la elaboración de la investigación científica. Hay un amplio acuerdo en que en los contextos no implicados en la justificación de las hipótesis o los resultados de la investigación esos valores pueden tener su papel, sin perjudicar por ello a la objetividad. La discusión ha quedado, pues, acotada a si los valores no epistémicos influyen (o incluso si deben influir) en los contextos relacionados con la metodología y la justificación. Pero incluso aquí puede decirse que hay un amplio acuerdo en que los valores no epistémicos no pueden tomarse como una razón que sustituya a la evidencia o que aumente la probabilidad de una hipótesis. El debate está ya lo suficientemente acotado para que los estudios empíricos tomen la palabra.
