Passionate political judgments and the democracy of emotions. Reflections from the Theory of Judgment and the Affective Turn

This article starts from the idea that emotions and affections are at stake in the discernment process. Its horizon is to explore the possibility that emotions allow to create democratic spaces of articulation of the common. So, the specific objective of the text is to defend a model of democracy of affections. To achieve this, he argues that, if we think carefully about a theory of judgment paying attention to the role played by concepts and, at the same time, rethink emotions as social relations rather than as internal affections, it is inevitable to place the affections in close connection with the concepts. Thus, the political judgments that articulate democratic life must be understood from their condition of being crossed by passions, or, in other words, being passionate judgments.
