Since its publication in 2001, Juan Aranzadi's book, The Arquíloco’s Shield, has originated different critical works, specially centered on moral and political consequences about a justification for an ethics for fugitives, which puts the supreme value in defense of life, at any price. This paper offers an approach to their main theses with the objections formulated by Patxo Unzueta, Edurne Uriarte, Jon Juaristi and Aurelio Arteta, in the strategy of fight against terrorism, the impulse of civic participation in the Basque society, the resistance attitudes opposed to the domination and the value of ethics and the ethics of values, respectively.
