La influencia de las fuentes cartesianas en la obra religiosa y política de Mary Astell

El artículo señala la presencia de varias fuentes francesas en la segunda parte de A Serious Proposal to the Ladies [Una propuesta seria a las damas] de Mary Astell. A través de un examen de este escrito se muestra que entre estas fuentes no solo hay obras de René Descartes, sino también de autores posteriores cuyo pensamiento suele catalogarse como “cartesiano”. La tesis que se defiende es la de que si entendemos a la recepción que hace Astell de estas fuentes en función de sus objetivos polémicos, podemos apreciar en qué medida estos distintos elementos cartesianos persisten o encuentran expresión original en sus obras religiosas y políticas posteriores.
